Teaching: Theories and real-life applications

Teaching students both theories and real-life applications is like giving them a map and a compass. They learn how to navigate the terrain of their chosen field with both a deep understanding of the landscape and the tools to explore it.

In terms of undergraduate teaching, I have consistently received high evaluations from my students and have been recognized by the university for my innovative approaches to pedagogy. I strive to engage students in active learning, whether through hands-on laboratory exercises or group projects that challenge them to apply their knowledge to real-world problems. As a mentor, I have advised numerous undergraduate students in research projects, helping them to develop their critical thinking and analytical skills.

Applied pedagogy and collaborative learning

As an educator, my pedagogical approach combines theoretical foundations with real-world applications to foster an engaging and comprehensive learning environment. Emphasizing experiential learning, I bridge the gap between theory and practice, ensuring students not only grasp the underlying concepts but also understand their practical relevance.

For example, in the Spring semester of 2023, I led the CMST 390 Research Methods course. Here, students delved into the critical principles and theories that underpin research methods. More than just learning about these concepts, they were given the opportunity to apply them firsthand by conceptualizing and executing their research projects. This hands-on experience was designed to solidify their understanding of the course material and to provide them with tangible skills they can utilize in their future academic and professional endeavors.
